Sami people – the indigenous people of Sweden. The reindeers are fundamental to the Sami culture. Like a cow boy Tobias Jonsson is a reindeer herder with a herd of 1000 reindeers. Early in the spring, before the reindeer calves are born, he starts to head for the mountains where the animals spend the whole summer. When autumn rolls around and the slaughter is over they begin the long trek back to their winter pasture near the cost. Every year Tobias makes this journey of 350 km each way. It is a hard job as his ancestors have done for hundreds of years before him.
